Description
About Careprost 3ml
Careprost from Sun Pharma contains bimatoprost 0.03% in a 3 ml bottle. Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analogue with two quite different uses. As an eye drop, it lowers pressure inside the eye in open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Applied to the upper lash line, it lengthens, thickens and darkens eyelashes, which is how the same ingredient is used in branded lash serums.
Using it for eyelash growth
- Remove make-up and contact lenses and wash your face.
- Place one drop on a sterile, single-use applicator brush.
- Draw it along the base of the upper lashes, where lash meets skin, from the inner to the outer corner.
- Blot any excess with a tissue. Use a fresh applicator for the other eye.
- Do not apply to the lower lid.
Apply once each evening. Results usually appear after 4–8 weeks, with the full effect at around 16 weeks. Lashes gradually return to normal if you stop. Our article on Careprost for eyelash growth covers this in more detail, and Careprost with brush includes applicators.
Using it for glaucoma
For raised eye pressure, the usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening, only under an eye specialist’s care. Using it more often can actually make it less effective. Regular pressure checks are essential.
Pack sizes
Available from 3 bottles up to 50, starting at $70.
Side effects
- Itchy or red eyes, which are common and usually mild
- Darkening of the eyelid skin, which fades after stopping
- Hair growth where the solution repeatedly touches skin
- Permanent browning of the colored part of the eye (iris), mainly with drops placed in the eye
- Rarely, a sunken appearance around the eyes
Precautions
Wait 15 minutes before reinserting contact lenses. If you already use eye-pressure medicine, speak to your eye doctor first, as bimatoprost can interact. Avoid it during pregnancy, and do not use it if you have active eye inflammation or infection.
Storage
Discard 4 weeks after opening and never share bottles.
Tips for the best lash results
Consistency matters more than quantity. One drop per eye each night is enough; extra liquid simply runs onto the skin and makes darkening more likely. Apply it after your evening skincare so creams do not wipe it away, and keep going for the full 16 weeks before judging results.
