Description
Same active ingredient (sildenafil) as Viagra®, the US brand. Kamagra Effervescent 100 mg is an Indian brand, made and licensed in India.
About Kamagra Effervescent 100 mg
Kamagra Effervescent 100 mg is a prescription effervescent tablet containing sildenafil citrate 100 mg, made by Ajanta Pharma, used to treat erectile dysfunction. Instead of being swallowed whole, each tablet is dissolved in water to make a fizzy drink. Like other Kamagra products, it is manufactured in India and is not licensed in the UK, EU or US.
How does it work?
Once swallowed, sildenafil is absorbed from the gut and reaches the penis through the bloodstream. There it inhibits PDE5, the enzyme that breaks down cGMP. With more cGMP available during arousal, the blood vessels stay relaxed and the erectile tissue fills more easily. Sexual stimulation is still required.
How to take Kamagra Effervescent
- Drop one tablet into half a glass of cold or room-temperature water.
- Wait until it has stopped fizzing and fully dissolved.
- Drink all of the liquid, around 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity.
- Do not take another dose, or any other sildenafil product, within 24 hours.
Avoid dissolving it in fruit juice or alcohol. Grapefruit juice in particular can increase sildenafil levels, and alcohol adds to dizziness.
Is the effervescent form faster?
Because the drug is already dissolved, some men find it takes effect slightly sooner, but studies showing a clear advantage are lacking. Plan on the usual 30 to 60 minutes, with benefit lasting about four to five hours. A heavy meal beforehand will still slow it down.
Things to know about the effervescent base
Effervescent tablets contain a bicarbonate base that releases carbon dioxide and adds sodium. If you are on a low-salt diet for high blood pressure, heart failure or kidney disease, ask your doctor whether a standard tablet such as Kamagra 100 mg would suit you better.
Pack sizes
Tablets are packed seven to a tube and sold in packs of 90, 120, 150 and 300, from $166.
Side effects
The most common are headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion and dizziness. Some men see a blue tinge or have blurred vision for a few hours. Seek medical help at once for an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, chest pain or an allergic reaction.
Who should not take it?
- Men using nitrates, poppers or riociguat.
- Men with severe heart disease, a recent heart attack or stroke, or low blood pressure.
- Men with severe liver disease or inherited retinal disorders.
Because 100 mg is the maximum labeled dose, newcomers to sildenafil are usually started lower. Discuss alpha-blockers, antifungals, antibiotics and HIV medicines with your prescriber.
Storage
Close the tube tightly straight after removing a tablet, because humidity starts the fizzing reaction early. Store below 86°F (30°C), out of children’s reach.
