Description

Same active ingredient (sildenafil) as Viagra®, the US brand. Silagra 100 mg is an Indian brand, made and licensed in India.

About Silagra 100 mg

Silagra 100 mg is Cipla’s brand of sildenafil citrate, packed in strips of four tablets. Cipla is a large, long-established Indian manufacturer, and Silagra is its version of the medicine best known as Viagra. It is used before sex to help men with erectile dysfunction get and keep an erection.

Who it is for

Silagra 100 mg is typically used by men who have already tried a lower dose of sildenafil and needed a stronger effect. First-time users are usually started on 50 mg. If you are unsure, discuss your dose with a doctor rather than starting at the top strength.

How to take it

  1. Swallow one tablet whole with water roughly one hour before sexual activity.
  2. Expect it to start working in 30–60 minutes; the useful window is about four hours.
  3. Avoid a large or high-fat meal just before, as it slows absorption.
  4. Never exceed one 100 mg tablet a day, which is the labeled maximum.

How it works

Sildenafil blocks the PDE5 enzyme, so the natural chemical signal that relaxes penile blood vessels during arousal lasts longer. Without desire and stimulation, it does nothing.

Pack sizes

Silagra 100 mg is available in packs of 60, 120, 180 and 240 tablets, from $100.

Side effects

  • Frequent: headache, facial redness, heartburn, nasal congestion.
  • Occasional: dizziness, back ache, blurred or blue-tinted vision.
  • Urgent: a painful or long-lasting erection, sudden vision or hearing loss, chest pain or an allergic reaction.

Interactions and cautions

Combining sildenafil with nitrates, poppers or riociguat can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure, so this combination must be avoided completely. Men taking alpha-blockers, some HIV medicines (such as ritonavir), erythromycin or strong antifungals may need a lower dose. Tell your doctor about heart disease, stroke, liver or kidney problems, bleeding disorders and stomach ulcers.

Getting the best results

Plan to take Silagra about an hour ahead, eat lightly, and give yourself time to relax. If the effect is disappointing after several tries, speak to a doctor; a different medicine such as tadalafil may suit you.

Storage

Store in the original strip, below 86°F (30°C), out of the reach of children.

Can lifestyle changes help too?
