Description

Same active ingredient (sildenafil) as Viagra®, the US brand. Lovegra 100 mg is an Indian brand, made and licensed in India.

About Lovegra 100 mg

Lovegra 100 mg is a prescription tablet containing 100 mg of sildenafil citrate, made by Ajanta Pharma, whose licensed use at this strength is erectile dysfunction in men. That is how it is listed in our catalog, yet the Lovegra name is widely promoted online as a “female” version of sildenafil. The marketing runs well ahead of the evidence, so this page sets out both sides plainly. Lovegra is an Indian brand and does not hold a license in the UK, the EU or the US.

Is Lovegra approved for women?

No. Sildenafil has no license for use by women from the MHRA, the European Medicines Agency or the US regulator. Clinical trials in women with low arousal or low desire produced inconsistent results, with little or no benefit over a dummy tablet for most participants; a modest effect was reported only in narrow groups, such as women whose sexual difficulties started on antidepressants. Problems with desire or arousal have many possible causes, including hormonal change around the menopause, vaginal dryness or pain, other medicines, stress and relationship issues. A DOCTOR or sexual health clinic can look for the cause and discuss treatments that have actually been studied in women, so Lovegra should not be used as self-treatment.

How does sildenafil work?

Sildenafil blocks phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide raises a messenger called cGMP that relaxes smooth muscle and lets blood fill the penis; PDE5 normally breaks that messenger down. Slowing its breakdown makes an erection easier to achieve and keep when a man is aroused. It does not create desire and has no effect without stimulation.

How is Lovegra 100 mg taken by men?

  • One tablet, swallowed with water, roughly an hour before sex; it can start working after about 30 minutes and remain active for 4–5 hours.
  • Never more than a single dose in any 24-hour period.
  • A heavy, fatty meal may hold back the effect by around an hour.
  • 100 mg is the maximum labeled dose. Most men start on 50 mg and move up only if that is well tolerated but not effective enough.
  • Do not combine it with other sildenafil forms (jelly, chewable, soft or effervescent tablets) or with tadalafil or vardenafil.

Who should not take it?

Never take sildenafil alongside nitrates such as nitroglycerin (glyceryl trinitrate) (GTN) sprays or tablets, isosorbide mononitrate or dinitrate, nicorandil or “poppers”, or with riociguat: together they can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. It is also unsuitable after a recent heart attack or stroke, with very low blood pressure, severe liver disease, inherited eye conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa, or when a doctor has advised against sexual activity for heart reasons. Take particular care with alpha-blockers (for example doxazosin or tamsulosin), the HIV medicine ritonavir, and ketoconazole, itraconazole or clarithromycin. It is not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding, or by anyone under 18.

What are the side effects?

Headache, flushing, indigestion, a blocked nose and dizziness are reported most often. Some people briefly notice a blue tint to their vision, blurring or sensitivity to light. Get urgent medical help for an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, chest pain, fainting, or swelling of the face and throat. If chest pain occurs, tell the medical team about the sildenafil so they do not give a nitrate.

Pack sizes and storage

Lovegra comes in strips of 4 tablets and is sold in packs of 60, 120, 180 or 240, from $51. Keep it below 86°F (30°C) in a dry place, out of the sight and reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

Will Lovegra increase a woman’s libido?

There is no reliable evidence that it does. Sildenafil acts on blood flow, not on desire.

Is there a lower strength for men starting treatment?

Yes. Penegra 50 mg and Manforce 50 mg contain the usual starting dose, and every brand is listed in the sildenafil category.

How does sildenafil compare with tadalafil?

Our sildenafil vs tadalafil guide compares onset and duration.

For general information only. Lovegra 100 mg contains a prescription medicine; anyone with sexual difficulties, and women in particular, should speak to a doctor rather than use it on their own.
