About Penegra 50 mg
Penegra 50 mg is a prescription tablet containing 50 mg of sildenafil citrate, made by Zydus Cadila (now Zydus Lifesciences), used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. As the recommended starting dose for most men, it sits in the middle of the Penegra range, between 25 mg and 100 mg. This Indian brand does not carry a UK, EU or US license.
How does Penegra work?
Sexual arousal sends nerve signals that release nitric oxide in the penis. This raises cGMP, which relaxes smooth muscle so the arteries widen and the erectile chambers fill with blood. The PDE5 enzyme normally ends the process. Sildenafil blocks PDE5 for several hours, so erections come more easily and last longer during that time, provided there is stimulation.
How to take Penegra 50 mg
- Swallow one tablet with water about an hour before sex; the usable window runs from about 30 minutes to 4 hours after the dose.
- Food is fine, but a heavy meal slows the onset.
- Limit yourself to one tablet per 24 hours.
- Your prescriber may change the dose to 25 mg or 100 mg after a few attempts.
Your first few attempts
Many men find the first dose disappointing because of nerves, rushing, or taking it straight after a big meal. Sildenafil studies judged success over several attempts, and the same approach makes sense at home: try it on around six to eight separate occasions, with enough foreplay, before concluding it does not work. Note the timing, food, alcohol and any side effects so you can share them with your doctor.
Who should not take it?
The single most important rule is that Penegra 50 mg must never meet a nitrate, nicorandil, poppers or riociguat, as the pairing can make blood pressure collapse. Penegra is also not suitable after a recent heart attack or stroke, with unstable angina or severe heart failure, very low blood pressure, severe liver disease or inherited retinal disease. Penile deformities and blood disorders such as sickle cell anemia raise the risk of priapism, so mention them to your prescriber.

What are the side effects?
Possible effects include headache, flushing, heartburn, nasal congestion or dizziness, generally mild and short-lived. Some men see a faint blue tint or blurring. Get emergency help for an erection that will not go down after 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, or chest pain.
