About Manforce 50 mg

Manforce 50 mg is a prescription tablet containing 50 mg of sildenafil citrate, made by Mankind Pharma, used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. Fifty milligrams is the standard starting dose in sildenafil labeling, so this is the strength most men are prescribed first. Manforce is a well-known Indian brand; it is not licensed in the UK, EU or US.

How does Manforce work?

An erection depends on blood rushing into the spongy tissue of the penis. Sexual arousal triggers nitric oxide, which increases cGMP, a messenger that relaxes the vessel walls, while the enzyme PDE5 gradually breaks cGMP down. Sildenafil temporarily blocks PDE5, so the response to arousal is stronger and lasts longer. Manforce will not cause an erection on its own, and it does not boost libido.

How to take Manforce 50 mg

Swallow one tablet with water about an hour before you plan to have sex. It may take longer to act after a heavy or fatty meal. Do not take more than one tablet a day. Depending on how well it works and how you tolerate it, a prescriber may raise the dose to 100 mg or lower it to 25 mg. Give each strength a fair trial over several occasions before deciding it is not working.

When 50 mg may need adjusting

• Increase to 100 mg: if the effect is too weak and side effects are mild; see Manforce 100 mg.
• Reduce to 25 mg: for troublesome side effects, some men over 65, liver problems, severe kidney disease or certain interacting medicines; Penegra 25 mg is one option.
• Talk to a doctor: if no strength helps, as ED can be a sign of diabetes, heart disease or low testosterone.

Who should not take it?

Manforce must never be combined with nitrates (nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate or dinitrate, nicorandil), amyl nitrite or riociguat, because blood pressure can fall sharply. Avoid it if heart disease makes sexual activity inadvisable, after a recent stroke or heart attack, or with low blood pressure, severe liver disease or retinitis pigmentosa. Tell your prescriber about alpha-blockers, HIV protease inhibitors, azole antifungals, clarithromycin or erythromycin. Men with a curved or scarred penis (Peyronie’s disease), sickle cell anemia, leukaemia or myeloma have a higher chance of a prolonged erection and need advice first.

What are the side effects?

Headache, warmth or redness in the face, an upset stomach, a stuffy nose and light-headedness are common at this dose. Visual changes such as a bluish tinge are less frequent at 50 mg than at 100 mg. Get urgent help for an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, or chest pain.
