Description
Same active ingredient (sildenafil) as Viagra®, the US brand. Manforce 100 mg is an Indian brand, made and licensed in India.
About Manforce 100 mg
Manforce 100 mg is a prescription tablet containing 100 mg of sildenafil citrate, made by Mankind Pharma, used to treat erectile dysfunction when a lower dose has not worked well enough. It is the highest dose in the licensed range for ED, and doctors normally prescribe it only after a man has tried 50 mg without problems. This Mankind brand is sold in India and holds no license in the UK, EU or US.
Is 100 mg the right strength for me?
Sildenafil labeling sets a starting dose of 50 mg, adjusted to 25 mg or 100 mg according to response. Stepping up makes sense when 50 mg gives some improvement but not enough, and you have had no significant side effects. It is not a sensible first dose for men who need a reduced dose, including those with liver or severe kidney problems, men taking alpha-blockers and anyone on strong CYP3A4 inhibitors; these groups usually begin at 25 mg. Higher doses bring more side effects, particularly headache and visual changes, rather than a proportionally firmer erection.
How does it work?
Sildenafil inhibits PDE5, the enzyme that switches off an erection. With PDE5 blocked, the cGMP signal produced during arousal lasts longer, the penile arteries stay relaxed and more blood is held in the erectile tissue. You still need to feel aroused for it to work.
How to take Manforce 100 mg
- One tablet with water, between 30 minutes and 4 hours before sex; an hour before is typical.
- Never more than one tablet (100 mg) in 24 hours, and never alongside another ED medicine or a second sildenafil form.
- Take it on a light stomach if you want the quickest effect.
- Keep your tablets to yourself; never give them to anyone else.
Before your first 100 mg dose
Check that nothing in your medicines has changed since you started sildenafil. Any new prescription for chest pain, particularly a GTN spray, isosorbide or nicorandil, rules out Manforce completely, as does riociguat. Recreational poppers are equally dangerous. A new alpha-blocker such as tamsulosin or doxazosin, an HIV medicine, or an antifungal like itraconazole also needs discussing first.
Who should not take it?
It is unsuitable for men with severe heart disease, unstable angina, a heart attack or stroke within the past six months, blood pressure below about 90/50 mmHg, severe liver impairment, or previous loss of sight from NAION. It is not intended for women or for anyone under 18.
What are the side effects?
- Very common: headache.
- Common: flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, dizziness, nausea, and visual effects such as a color tinge or blurring.
- Less common: palpitations, muscle aches, dry mouth and red eyes.
Urgent: an erection lasting more than 4 hours needs emergency treatment to prevent lasting damage. Also seek help at once for sudden vision or hearing loss, chest pain, or a severe rash.
