Description
Same active ingredient (sildenafil) as Viagra®, the US brand. Nizagara 100 mg is an Indian brand, made and licensed in India.
About Nizagara 100 mg
Nizagara 100 mg is a prescription tablet containing 100 mg of sildenafil citrate, made by Uni-Sule Pvt. Ltd., used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. Each tablet holds the maximum labeled single dose of sildenafil, the same active ingredient found in Viagra. Nizagara is an Indian-made brand that has not been licensed in the UK, EU or US.
How does Nizagara work?
Think of an erection as a hydraulic event: arteries in the penis widen, blood flows in, and the veins that drain it are squeezed shut. The widening depends on a signal molecule, cGMP, which the enzyme PDE5 steadily removes. The sildenafil in Nizagara slows that removal, so when you are sexually stimulated the vessels open more fully and stay open for longer. When arousal ends, the erection subsides as normal.
How to take Nizagara 100 mg
Take one tablet with a glass of water about an hour before sex. You can take it with or without food, but a rich meal can push the start back by an hour or so. The effect usually lasts four to five hours, which is a window of opportunity, not a continuous erection. One Nizagara tablet per 24 hours is the limit. If you have never used sildenafil, ask a prescriber about starting at 50 mg instead.
Getting the timing right
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Planned evening, light dinner | Take it about an hour before |
| After a large or fatty meal | Take it earlier, or expect a slower start |
| Drinking alcohol | Keep it moderate; heavy drinking blunts the effect and adds to dizziness |
| Already took sildenafil today | Wait until a full 24 hours have passed |
Who should not take it?
- Men who use nitrates in any form, including GTN, isosorbide, nicorandil and amyl nitrite poppers, or who take riociguat.
- Men advised to avoid sexual activity because of heart problems, or who have recently had a heart attack or stroke.
- Those with low blood pressure, severe liver disease, retinitis pigmentosa or previous NAION.
- Anyone already taking another PDE5 inhibitor, including sildenafil for pulmonary hypertension.
Men on alpha-blockers, ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin or clarithromycin need medical advice and usually a lower dose. Bleeding disorders, active stomach ulcers and conditions linked to priapism, such as sickle cell disease, also need a doctor’s review.
What are the side effects?
The most common are headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion and dizziness, while visual changes such as a blue tinge or light sensitivity are more likely at 100 mg. They usually settle within hours. Emergency help is needed for an erection lasting over 4 hours, sudden loss of sight in one or both eyes, sudden hearing loss or ringing in the ears, or chest pain.
Beyond the tablet
Sildenafil treats the symptom, not its cause. ED is often an early sign of narrowed arteries, diabetes or high blood pressure, so a check-up is worthwhile. Losing excess weight, stopping smoking and regular exercise can also improve erections; see our guide to tackling erectile dysfunction.
Pack sizes
Nizagara is supplied in strips of 10 tablets and sold in packs of 90, 120, 150 or 300, from $135. Store below 86°F (30°C) in a dry place.
Frequently asked questions
Is Nizagara the same as Viagra?
It contains the same active ingredient at the same strength, but it is a different manufacturer’s product and not the licensed Viagra brand.
Are there other 100 mg sildenafil brands?
Yes, for example Aurogra 100 mg and Penegra 100 mg; see the full sildenafil range.
Can I take it every day?
Only once in 24 hours, and only when needed. Daily dosing is not a labeled sildenafil regimen for ED.
Written for general education, not as individual advice. Nizagara 100 mg is a prescription medicine; a doctor should confirm it is safe for your heart and your other medicines.
