Description
Same active ingredient (azelaic acid) as Finacea® and Azelex®, the US brands. Ezanic 20% Cream is an Indian brand, made and licensed in India.
About Ezanic 20% Cream
Ezanic 20% Cream from Intas Pharmaceuticals contains azelaic acid 20%, a naturally derived acid with several useful effects on the skin. It treats mild to moderate acne and helps fade dark marks and melasma, and it is known for being gentler than many other acne and pigment treatments. That makes it a popular choice for sensitive skin.
What azelaic acid does
- Antibacterial: reduces acne-causing bacteria without causing antibiotic resistance.
- Unclogs pores: normalizes the way skin cells shed inside follicles.
- Anti-inflammatory: calms red, angry spots.
- Evens tone: slows overactive pigment cells, fading post-acne marks and melasma.
How to use it
- Wash with a mild cleanser and pat dry.
- Gently massage a thin layer into the affected area twice a day, morning and evening.
- If your skin is sensitive, start once a day for the first week.
- Use sunscreen every morning, particularly if you are treating pigmentation.
Acne usually starts improving after about four weeks. Pigmentation can take two to three months.
Pack sizes
15 g tubes in packs of 3, 6 or 9, from $26. A milder Ezanic 10% Cream is also available.
Side effects
A mild tingling, burning or itching sensation is common for the first couple of weeks and usually fades. Some people notice dryness or peeling. Rarely, lightening can occur in people with darker skin. Stop and seek advice for severe irritation, swelling or a rash.
Safety
Azelaic acid is often considered an option during pregnancy and breastfeeding when retinoids and hydroquinone should be avoided, but always check with your doctor first. Keep it away from the eyes, mouth and mucous membranes.
Where it fits
Many dermatologists use azelaic acid as a maintenance treatment after stronger options: for example, once melasma has faded with a triple-combination cream such as Melacare, or alongside a retinoid for acne. Its gentleness makes it suitable for long-term use.
Storage
Store below 77°F (25°C) and keep the tube tightly closed.
Getting the texture right
Ezanic is a light cream that can feel slightly gritty; warm a small amount between your fingertips before spreading. It sits well under moisturizer and sunscreen, and can be worn under make-up once absorbed.
