About Seroflo Inhaler 250 mcg
Seroflo Inhaler 250 is a combination asthma preventer from Cipla. Each puff from the metered-dose inhaler delivers salmeterol 25 mcg, a long-acting bronchodilator, and fluticasone propionate 250 mcg, an inhaled corticosteroid. It contains the same ingredients as the brand Seretide Evohaler 250 and is the highest-strength Seroflo inhaler, used when asthma needs more anti-inflammatory treatment than the lower strengths provide.
How it works
- Fluticasone reduces swelling and sensitivity in the airways, lowering the risk of asthma attacks when used every day.
- Salmeterol relaxes the muscles around the airways for about 12 hours, keeping them open overnight and during the day.
Together they control symptoms far better than either medicine alone. Salmeterol should never be used for asthma without an inhaled steroid, which is why it comes combined here.
How to use it
The usual dose for adults and teenagers aged 12 and over is two puffs twice a day, morning and evening, every day, even when you feel well. Shake the inhaler before each puff, breathe out gently, seal your lips around the mouthpiece and press as you begin a slow, deep breath, then hold your breath for about ten seconds. A spacer improves delivery. Rinse your mouth and spit after each dose to reduce the chance of oral thrush and a hoarse voice. Our guide to types of asthma inhalers explains technique in more detail.
This is a preventer, not a rescue inhaler. Keep a reliever such as Asthalin Inhaler with you for sudden symptoms.

Side effects
Hoarseness, sore throat, oral thrush, headache, tremor and a faster heartbeat are the most common. Rarely, the airways tighten straight after a puff; if this happens, use your reliever and seek help. Long-term high-dose inhaled steroids can affect bone density and the eyes, so regular reviews are important.
Cautions
- Tell your doctor about heart rhythm problems, overactive thyroid, diabetes, low potassium or tuberculosis.
- Strong enzyme blockers such as ritonavir or ketoconazole can raise steroid levels.
- Beta-blockers, including some eye drops, may make salmeterol less effective.
Storage
Store below 86°F (30°C), protected from frost and direct sunlight. The canister is pressurized, so never puncture or burn it, even when empty.
