Description
Same active ingredient (tadalafil) as Cialis®, the US brand. Toptada 10 mg is an Indian brand, made and licensed in India.
About Toptada 10 mg
Toptada 10 mg is a prescription tablet containing 10 mg of tadalafil, made by Healing Pharma in India, used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. It is taken as needed before sex, and 10 mg is the dose most doctors start with. Like other Indian tadalafil brands, Toptada is made in India; the US brand with the same active ingredient is Cialis.
How does it work?
Tadalafil belongs to the PDE5 inhibitor class, alongside sildenafil and vardenafil. It prolongs the chemical signal (cGMP) that relaxes the arteries of the penis when you are aroused, so blood can flow in and stay there. It stands apart from the others for its duration: one tablet can work for up to 36 hours, which is why it is nicknamed “the weekend pill”.
Where 10 mg fits among tadalafil doses
| Dose | How it is used |
|---|---|
| 2.5 mg | Once daily for ED (starting daily dose) |
| 5 mg | Once daily for ED or BPH, or a reduced on-demand dose |
| 10 mg | Standard starting dose taken before sex |
| 20 mg | Highest labeled on-demand dose |
Strengths above 20 mg exceed labeled dosing and are not recommended for ED.
How to take Toptada 10 mg
Swallow one tablet with a glass of water at least 30 minutes before sexual activity; food makes no real difference. Take it no more than once a day. If the effect is not enough after several attempts, talk to your doctor about 20 mg rather than taking extra tablets, and if side effects appear, 5 mg may be enough.
Safety checks before you start
- Nitrates are off-limits: nitroglycerin, isosorbide and amyl nitrite “poppers” combined with tadalafil can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure. Riociguat is also contraindicated.
- Heart: sex is physical exertion, so check with a doctor if you have angina, heart failure, an irregular heartbeat, or a recent heart attack or stroke.
- Blood pressure: alpha-blockers and other blood pressure medicines can make you light-headed when combined with tadalafil.
- Kidneys and liver: reduced function calls for lower doses.
- Interacting medicines: ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir and clarithromycin raise tadalafil levels.
What are the side effects?
Possible effects include headache, indigestion, backache, muscle aches, facial redness and a stuffy nose, usually mild and short-lived. Rarely, tadalafil causes sudden loss of vision (from reduced blood flow to the optic nerve) or sudden hearing loss; stop and seek help straight away if either happens. An erection lasting longer than 4 hours is a medical emergency, as is chest pain.
ED can be a warning sign
Erection problems often share causes with heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. A check of blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol is worthwhile before relying on tablets, and our ED lifestyle guide covers habits that help alongside treatment.
