About Accufine 10 mg
Accufine 10 mg is a prescription soft capsule containing 10 mg of isotretinoin, made by Healing Pharma, India, used to treat severe acne such as nodular, cystic or scarring acne that has not cleared with standard treatment. Many dermatologists open a course with 10 mg capsules because they allow a gentle introduction and easy step-ups.

How does Accufine work?
Isotretinoin reaches the skin through the bloodstream and switches the oil glands into a much quieter state. Sebum output drops dramatically, the lining of each pore sheds normally instead of forming plugs, and the redness and swelling around spots eases. These changes explain why clearance often persists long after the last capsule.
How to take Accufine 10 mg
- Swallow each capsule whole with water during a meal; avoid chewing or piercing it.
- A 40 kg teenager starting at 0.5 mg/kg would need 20 mg daily, or two Accufine 10 mg capsules.
- The dose may be raised towards 1 mg/kg a day after a few weeks if you tolerate it well.
- Missed a capsule? Take it later that day if you remember in time, but never double the next dose.
Getting through the first few weeks
Lip dryness usually appears within the first week, so carry a lip balm and reapply it often. Swap harsh cleansers and scrubs for a mild, fragrance-free wash and moisturizer. Around weeks three to six, some people have a temporary flare of spots before improvement becomes obvious; this does not mean the treatment has failed. If a flare is severe, contact your dermatologist rather than stopping on your own.
Pregnancy: strict rules apply
Isotretinoin is teratogenic, meaning it can cause major birth defects affecting the face, heart and brain. If you are able to become pregnant, you will be enrolled in a pregnancy prevention program (UK Pregnancy Prevention Program or US iPLEDGE) and asked to use two effective methods of contraception. These start one month before the first dose and continue for one month after the last. Pregnancy tests are done before starting, every month on treatment and after finishing. Do not breastfeed while taking Accufine.
What are the side effects?
Expect dry lips, skin, nose and eyes, sometimes with nosebleeds. Headache, muscle and joint aches, thinning hair and easy sunburn are also reported. Your doctor checks liver enzymes and blood lipids before and during treatment. Get urgent help for low mood or suicidal thoughts, a sudden severe headache with blurred vision, strong abdominal pain, dark urine or a blistering skin reaction.
Precautions and interactions
Never combine isotretinoin with tetracycline antibiotics, since together they increase the risk of raised pressure around the brain, and avoid vitamin A supplements. Tell your doctor about any liver disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, depression or soya allergy. Blood donation is not permitted during the course or in the month afterwards, and waxing, laser treatment and dermabrasion should be postponed until six months after stopping.
