About Clindac A Gel 15 gm
Clindac A Gel is a prescription antibiotic gel containing clindamycin 1% (as clindamycin phosphate), made by Galderma India Pvt Ltd, used to treat mild to moderate inflammatory acne on the face and body. This listing is the 15 g tube, a compact size that suits treating the face alone and is easy to carry when traveling.
How does Clindac A Gel work?
Inside a blocked pore, Cutibacterium acnes thrives on trapped oil and releases substances that attract white blood cells, producing redness, swelling and pus. Clindamycin suppresses the growth of these bacteria by interfering with how they build proteins, and it also appears to reduce some of the inflammation directly. The result is fewer tender papules and pustules, although comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) usually need a separate treatment.
How to apply Clindac A Gel
- Wash the affected skin with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry with a clean towel.
- Apply a thin layer twice daily to the entire area that breaks out, not only to visible spots.
- Smooth it in with your fingertips until it disappears; a thicker layer will not work faster and is more likely to irritate.
- Steer clear of the eyes, lips and nostrils, and wash your hands when you finish.
- If you shave, wait until any post-shave sting has settled before applying it.
Building a routine with other acne products
Doctors rarely prescribe clindamycin gel as a stand-alone, long-term treatment because bacteria can become resistant. A common plan uses Clindac A in the morning and a retinoid such as Adaferin Gel (adapalene) at night, with benzoyl peroxide added to protect against resistance. Apply one product at a time, letting each dry, and introduce new products one by one so you can tell which causes any irritation. Some doctors prefer azelaic acid, for example Aziderm 10% Gel, for people whose skin cannot tolerate a retinoid.
How long does a 15 g tube last?
Used twice daily on the face only, a 15 g tube typically lasts roughly two to four weeks; treating the chest or back as well empties it much faster. That is why multi-tube packs suit a standard 8- to 12-week course. If you need to cover a larger area, a liquid form such as Clindac A Solution may be easier to spread.
What are the side effects?
- Common: dryness, redness, mild burning or stinging, peeling and itching where applied.
- Uncommon: oily skin, allergic contact dermatitis, or folliculitis caused by gram-negative bacteria after prolonged use.
- Rare but serious: severe diarrhea, abdominal cramps or bloody stools, which can signal antibiotic-associated colitis. Stop the gel and call your doctor promptly.
Who should not use Clindac A Gel?
It is not suitable for anyone with a known allergy to clindamycin or lincomycin, or with a history of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis or colitis after antibiotics. Avoid pairing it with erythromycin products on the skin. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, discuss it with your doctor first; absorption through the skin is low, but the decision should be made individually. It is not intended for children under 12 unless a doctor advises it.
