Description

About Eukroma Cream

Eukroma Cream is a hydroquinone skin-lightening cream from Yash Pharma Laboratories, supplied in a 20 g tube. It is used to fade localised dark patches such as melasma, freckles, age or sun spots, and the brown marks that can follow acne or skin injury. Hydroquinone is one of the most studied depigmenting ingredients in dermatology.

Who might use Eukroma

  • People with melasma, often on the cheeks, forehead or upper lip
  • Those with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after spots, insect bites or minor burns
  • Anyone with sun-induced dark spots on the face or hands

It is not intended to change overall skin tone.

Directions

  1. Cleanse and dry the skin.
  2. Dab a small amount onto each dark patch and blend gently, keeping within the edges.
  3. Use as prescribed, usually once or twice a day.
  4. Apply sunscreen every morning and reapply outdoors; sun exposure undoes progress very quickly.

Expected timeline

Gradual fading usually begins after around a month, with more noticeable results by three months. Hydroquinone courses are generally limited to about three to four months at a time; your doctor may then recommend a break or a maintenance product such as Ezanic 20% Cream (azelaic acid).

Pack sizes

Eukroma Cream is supplied in 20 g tubes, from $5. A combination product, Eukroma Plus Cream, is also available.

Side effects

Some people get mild redness, dryness, itching or a burning sensation. Rarely, prolonged use leads to a bluish-gray darkening (ochronosis). Stop the cream and consult a doctor if irritation is severe or the skin darkens unexpectedly.

Precautions

Patch test before first use. Avoid in pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children. Keep away from the eyes and broken skin, and do not combine with peroxide-containing products at the same time of day.

Why sun protection matters

Ultraviolet and visible light switch pigment production back on within hours. A broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30–50, reapplied every two hours outdoors, together with a hat and shade, is the single most important part of any pigmentation plan. Tinted sunscreens give extra protection against visible light.

Storage

Keep the tube sealed and below 77°F (25°C). Throw the cream away if it turns dark brown, as oxidised hydroquinone is less effective.
